Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
“Let’s Go For A Walk” workshop Saturday, July 8 at the Jefferson County Dog Park
Do you need a little help getting your pooch in sync with your step?  If so, plan to attend the free “Let’s Go For A Walk” workshop on Saturday, July 8, sponsored by the Humane Society of Jefferson County and the Lake Mills Veterinary Clinic. Sessions will take place every half hour from 10:00 a.m. – noon at the Jefferson County Dog Park, area 3, between Jefferson and Johnson Creek. Walking your dog is so much more than just a way of exercising. It prevents your dog from getting bored, it’s a behavior training opportunity, and it teaches your dog how to behave in canine company. On top of all this, it gets both of you out and about while helping to grow the bond you have with your dog. Dogs aren’t born knowing how to walk on a leash, but this workshop will teach your dog how to follow your lead. Bring treats along; it's the fastest way to teach new skills! It will be the best 30 minutes you spend training your dog!  A daily dog park permit or annual tag is required to bring your dog to the Jefferson County Dog Park, which can be purchased that day.  Also, dogs must be “people friendly,” “dog friendly,” current on all vaccinations, and leashed with a 4’ – 6’ non-retractable leash. There is no cost to attend this workshop, but please consider bringing a cash donation or an item from the shelter’s ‘wish list’.  Please call 674-2048 for more information.
