Assistant/Associate Editor
SouthComm, Inc. is a very dynamic business-to-business media organization with core competencies in trade publishing, interactive, custom marketing and expositions.  We are recruiting for a dynamic assistant/associate editor.
As part of the editorial team, the Assistant/Associate Editor is responsible for the processing publication through production. Conceptualize story ideas for each issue. Research stories for future issues.  Write, assign and edit editorials. Help coordinate the work of freelance writers. Furnish complete page material in appropriate electronic format. Assist in development of the print magazine portion of the Web site and represent the Web site as well as print properties at shows.
Assist in development and maintenance of databases, surveys and special issues.
Work with the art director and graphic designer to maintain and enhance the publication's graphic appeal. Proof layouts for each issue and meet production deadlines.
Develop a presence in the industry and professionally represent publication at appropriate functions (e.g., trade shows, media events, conventions, etc.). Travel 15-20%.
Meticulous attention to detail essential
Strong copy editing/proofreading skills
1+ years experience
BA in Journalism, communications or related field
Excellent communication/organizational skills
