Deadline extended for Fort Atkinson for Local Government Academy Applications
The deadline has been extended for applications for the City of Fort Atkinson Local Government Academy. Applications are due June 7 at 5 p.m. There are still a few spots available in this valuable class, designed to provide insight into City operations.
The program is open to all City of Fort Atkinson residents of voting age and will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about City operations and services, widen community relationships, develop leadership skills and identify opportunities to apply leadership skills in the community and with City government.
The Fort Atkinson Local Government Academy will meet July 25, August 8, August 22, August 29 and September 12, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Fort Atkinson Local Government Academy is an informative and interactive opportunity to learn about the City of Fort Atkinson department operations and government. Participants will learn more about the council/manager form of government and various City departments, as well as take tours of City properties.
A major goal for both the University of Wisconsin Extension and the City of Fort Atkinson is to increase civic engagement and opportunities for residents to learn about community services and ways to participate and engage in the decision-making processes. In cooperation, the Fort Atkinson Local Government Academy will provide a hands-on opportunity to strengthen community relationships, learn more about community challenges and opportunities, help advocate for important topics and enhance the City’s communication efforts.
The Local Government Academy was made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Fort Atkinson Community Foundation.
Applications are due June 7, 2023, by 5:00 p.m. All applicants will be notified by June 13, 2023, if they are accepted into the Academy. For more information and to apply online, follow the link: www.fortatkinsonwi.gov/governmentacademy.
